Kalamkari Bags

Kalamkari literally means, Kalam - pen and kari – work. An exclusive tradition of Andhra Pradesh, the word literally means art work done using a pen. It is an ancient style of hand painting which is skillfully done on cotton or silk fabric employing a tamarind pen and quite a few natural dyes. This form of painting involves more than 20 steps. After dyeing, bleaching and hand-painting followed by block printing, starching, cleaning and other stages, the motifs are drawn in Kalamkari style, ranging from flowers and birds to characters of Hindu epics.
